Comrades and friends,
Today, as never before, our country hurts us. We are hurt by the growing hunger, the enlarged unemployment, we are hurt by the extending poverty and the ruling injustice. The rights we have conquered and the victories we have celebrated, which cost so much effort and work, are also being taken away. They are trying to erase the memory, so that we the Argentines may forget the past, forget our missing people, forget the 40-year struggle of the Mothers and the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo; And that we reconcile with the torturers and murderers, who will walk again in our streets, enjoying an aberrant and unpunished freedom. Today the present hurts us, and above all, our dream of the future hurts. We remain present, alive, working harder than ever. We will continue to resist, as we have done for so many years: through our art, with embraces that multiply themselves, with sensitive skin, with available listening, with the hot mate that is mixed with talking. We will continue to resist as a way of life, as a way of fighting. We know that you share with us the same pain before the injustice that governs our country and the world. And for almost 13 years your solidarity has moved us, summoned on this magical and wonderful terrace, so close to us. And from that meeting, the roots, which are the support of our Casa T. Tasso, will continue to grow, allowing us to continue working with the children, with the young people and with the neighbors of the Boca neighborhood, trying to build a space where play, art, word and thought are developed. We are thrilled to know that you will be there, once again, to meet and unite in an embrace, which will be the manifestation of the strength of solidarity, cooperation and fight. We thank you infinitely, we love you very much and we are always waiting for you. Natalia Franchi (Casa Torquato Tasso) |
